The selection of works included here represent a period of intense shifts in the world and personally, including the triage of teaching through the pandemic and post-pandemic for 3 1/2 years, losses and diagnoses, and the layers of fracture and uncertainty experienced by many. Using visual cues over direct representation, this work continues to explore what we carry and hold just under the skin, expressed increasingly as fragments, accumulations, and glimpses – while working to stay open enough to both respond to the moment and reflect upon the longer, larger questions that arise.
Each piece is found through a directed struggle, formed and broken, and formed again, by mark-making as a living action and through painting as a physical act of thinking.
